John Lennon Songwriting Contest!
I just received a phone call from Brian Rothschild, co-founder of the John Lennon Songwriting Contest that Trivial Pursuit has been selected as The John Lennon Songwriting Contest Song of the Week!
From their website: “In honor of John Lennon, The John Lennon Songwriting Contest is an international songwriting contest that began in 1997 to give songwriters an opportunity to express themselves, gain recognition, and get their music heard. The JLSC is made possible by Yoko Ono Lennon.
The Executive Committee of Judges consists of legendary and contemporary superstars such as Flea of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, 311, Jimmy Cliff, Matthew Koma, American Authors, Bob Weir, Switchfoot, Sheila E, Kevin Bacon, Bootsy Collins, George Clinton, and more. Over the years, the Contest has identified such stars as Meghan Trainor, Gaby Moreno, Elise Goldsberry and others.”
The annual competition ends with a Grand Prize Winner for song of the year announced at the end of 2022 (I’m still in the running for that!) . There are over $300k in prizes given away each year and profits from the Contest help to keep the John Lennon Educational Tour Bus (www.lennonbus.org) on the road to supplement music education and to demonstrate the latest gear and instruments.
I’ll be going live with Brian on his Instagram channel today (Jan 25) at 2pm EST. @lennonbus
