Album Update: Song #2 is Recorded!

Sooo… I was in the studio last week for an unexpected session with Frank (Felony) Raheem, producer of “Dinner Date.” I sang on another one of his (yet to be released) singles a couple of years ago and he reached out to collaborate on a song. He wants to expand from his R&B / Rap background and do something on the swing side, so it’s a perfect match!

We planned on recording from 9-11 at the Batcave Studios in Kensington on a Friday. Well, good thing I confirmed the time cause that was 9 P! M! But I can swing it so I went down in an impending hurricane that was coming through, and just as we were about to be let in the studio, a transformer blows down the street and the whole block goes out. They knew it would be a few hours to get the electricity back and, well, let’s just say Kensington is not the kind of place you want to be hanging out during a blackout.

So we rescheduled for a more respectable 11 am session the next week which was great cause I got to bring my boys with me, Frankie and Tony. They were mostly interested in going to “The Batcave” but it was a good learning experience.

We worked on “Is it bad?” We only had two hours to make a song. I laid down the piano track, the engineer fixed it up so everything was perfectly on beat, and then I jumped in the vocal booth and did two takes of the song and we were done in an hour.

The hook is pretty juicy - I’m so excited for you to hear it. This is a little more on the hip-hop side of what I usually write - no big band required, but Felony is going to make a beat for it and it’ll be hot.

Here’s a taste of the lyrics so you can get a feel for the vibe:

Is it bad that I want you?
Is it bad that I need you?
Is it bad that I want you to sneak in my room and take me away?

Is it bad that I want you?
Is it bad that I need you?
Want to pin you down, imprint my body into your skin…

Yeah— it was getting steamy in the vocal booth!

Want to know when you can get your ears on it?

I’ve decided instead of doing a Kickstarter to raise money for the album, I’m going to be pre-selling it months before it’s released to the public, so you can get the digital versions of these songs way before anyone else. Stay tuned for when I launch that! I want to have a couple more tunes done for you first and then I’m going to create some fun super supporter packages that will give you extra perks.

Can’t wait!
